Corporative Volunteering

Corporative volunteering is getting more and more popular every year. It is basically encouragement of the  employes working as a company group spent some of their time, either work time or free time for the community service. It is a great idea to get closer together and spend some time with a great purpose!

It is working all over United States, but now it is getting popular in Ukraine. And if you want to know why, read the article:

The great journey of the FMSC meals

Filipino children who receive FMSC meals through ICM

Reading the FMSC blog, I found very interesting story that I would like to share with you, the story about example  of journey the meals have to go through, and what kind of emotional feedback you receive from the people whom it reaches!

Not going in a lot of details, because I really want you to read it from the web-site with all the great pictures of the kids and families who is so happy to finally receive the food, and try to understand the importance of those food for the families!
The only I thing I want to point out is that without all those people who is so passionate about their job at FMSC and all their partners, who is making everything to make food delivery possible, people would suffer, people would starve and die. Sometimes we do not even realize that with a small steps and actions we can make a huge difference in someones life!

Pack half a million meals a day? Lets do it!

Not a long time ago I wrote about the FMSC Mega Pack(You can find the post in archive). The goal was to pack 3 million meals, and I can happily announce that they achieved the goal!
Personally I went only on Friday, the last day of the packing, but it still was amazing, there were hundreds of people ready to pack 24/7. I felt incredible! But enough about that.
Last Saturday, Phoenix made a news, over 2000 volunteers gathered there with a goal to pack half a million meals for the Philippines. A lot of know about natural disasters which happened in Philippines, but how many of us did something about that? Read this report from the packing event and next time be thereto make a difference!

Facebook page for my campaign!

Staying up to date with all the nowadays opportunities of social media all the GNML students created their Facebook community page, according to the specific social issue they want to find solutions for.

You can visit my Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/activelifeposition

Of course it is not enough just to create the Facebook page, you to attract audience to it and give people an information.
Just answering some questions I want to share with you two ideas - "How do I plan to use your Facebook Page to engage your audience for your “Social Media For Social Change"

- The first idea which came to my mind is to provide people with information about the volunteering opportunities in the community, city, country. It can be possible by posting all the different organizations addresses and contact information. Also, when the group will have enough users, they will be able to share personal observations and experience with other users which will help them to find the "best fit" places to help!

- Also posting all the latest news and updates about the world and everything what is going on. First most of the people spent tons of their free time on the Facebook and don’t use specific utilities or websites which provide them with latest information about interesting projects and campaigns. So, just sharing ideas, news and information about all kinds of different issues will attract people to the community service and make them active citizens!

Thank you for your time, have a great rest of your day!=)

Inspirational story from family in Guatemala!

Working as a volunteer for the Feed My Starving Children Organization is an amazing feeling for me!
I wish I would volunteer there more often, but unfortunately it is not close to my house. and it takes a lot of time to get there. But every time I go there, I come back home with an amazing feeling of satisfaction and inspiration, you might ask why?
The reason is - that you get to meet all the volunteers who is ready to help others donating their time and sharing desire. Every time before the shift starts packing process, you get to watch this amazing video about one kid whose life was changed forever just because of the ONE MEAL a day, how crazy it is, all the people I know have at least two meals a day, when we say: " I am hungry", we basically mean that we did not have a breakfast, or maybe missed a lunch. For those kids it means not having a food for WEEKS, or simply have ONE meal a month.

One of the stories I found which will give me a inspiration and wish to visit FMSC one more time came from Guatemala, from the family who received food help from FMSC. Please read an article and volunteer at Feed My Starving Children organization, if you can!
